Less time on screens, more time in nature. Join our community project making a real difference for families and schools.
Get Involved TodayToday's children spend hours on connected devices—gaming (Fortnite), scrolling through social media (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram)—and screens have become inseparable from daily life. Phones feel like an extra limb we can't put down. When bored, curious, or seeking connection, we reach for our screens. That's where we talk with friends, watch entertaining videos, listen to music, and play games that consume hours without us noticing the time passing.
Technology is incredible and opens amazing possibilities—learning, creating, connecting globally. But excessive use distances us from what matters: outdoor play, physical activity, nature, face-to-face relationships with family and friends. After hours online, many realize they haven't moved, haven't had real conversations, and haven't looked outside. This disconnect is becoming the norm, affecting mental health, physical fitness, and genuine human connection.
Many children lack outdoor spaces at home to play freely. Without access to parks, yards, or community spaces, outdoor activity is limited to school hours. Even traditional outdoor games—tag, hide-and-seek—aren't being played outside of school. Children need to rediscover that outdoor play can be as exciting, social, and engaging as digital entertainment. This is where SORT DEHORS makes the difference.
SORT DEHORS transforms traditional outdoor games into contemporary, engaging activities that inspire children across the francophone district to rediscover the joy of outdoor play.
We prove that outdoor play is fun, accessible, and possible even with limited spaces. Through diverse activities designed for different ages and interests, we show children that outdoor experiences can be as exciting and social as digital entertainment.
We work with schools, districts, families, and community partners to create meaningful outdoor experiences that promote physical health, mental wellbeing, genuine social connection, and a healthy relationship with technology.
Our mission: equip every child with the tools, knowledge, and inspiration to thrive outdoors while building stronger, healthier communities where outdoor-first living is the norm.
SORT DEHORS is a student-led initiative founded by two 7th grade students at Ecole Grand Digue. We're currently piloting our program at our school and actively seeking partnerships with other schools and educators in the district.
